Anna Maria (GIUMINI) FILIPPONI (1760-1813)

134C1B. Anna Maria Giumini was born and baptized on June 3, 1760, in Giumaglio, Ticino, Switzerland. Her godparents were Giovanni Antonio Giovanotti, who was married to cousin Giovanna Maria Piezzi, and her maternal aunt, Mrs. Maria (De Bernardi) Bettanta.[Bap 1760] Anna Maria married Giovanni Giacomo Filipponi (II) of Someo, 2 kilometers upriver, by 1787.[Bap 1788] They had ten children, including a set of twin girls, but they and two others died in infancy:

Anna Maria was confirmed on June 16, 1761, when Giovanni Battista Albrici, Count Peregrini, Bishop of Como (1760-1764), held confirmation ceremonies for parishes in the valley at the Church of Santi Placido ed Eustachio in Someo, 2 kilometers upriver. Her sponsoring godmother was named as Mrs. Maria Teresia (Sartori) Piezzi.[Con 1761]

Anna and Giacomo chose the following godparents for their children:

  1. Margherita: Pietro Giumini, Anna's younger brother, and Mrs. Giovanna Maria (Franscioni) Filipponi.[Bap 1788]
  2. Giacomo Pietro: Giovanni Giacomo Righetti and Maria Teresa Giumini6, Anna's younger sister[Bap 1789];
  3. Antonio: Giovanni Battista Righetti and Maria Giumini, Anna's sister[Bap 1791], presumably referring to Maria Maddalena Giumini;
  4. Lucia: Antonio Maria [Marcello] Lafranchi, Anna's brother-in-law, and Mrs. Giovanna Maria [Delnotaro] Perini[Bap 1793B];
  5. Anna Maria (elder): Giovanni Antonio Lanotti and Mrs. Anna Maria (Piezzi) Pezzoni[Bap 1796A];
  6. Caterina: Giovanni Antonio Tognazzini and Maria Caterina Sartori[Bap 1796B];
  7. Giacomo (elder): Giacomo Pietro Righetti (Jr.) and Mrs. Anna Maria (Bonetti) Lanotti[Bap 1798];
  8. Giacomo (younger): Giovanni Pietro Sartori and Giovanna Maria Lanotti[Bap 1800], possibly Giacomo's niece;
  9. Anna Maria (younger): Giacomo Bonetti and Mrs. Maria Cristina (Camanini) Righetti[Bap 1803B]; and
  10. Giovanni: Giovanni Antonio Righetti and Mrs. Maria Giusta Righetti.[Bap 1805B]

Anna Maria was named as the godmother and apparent namesake of niece Anna Maria Giumini[Bap 1781]; Giovanna Maria Lanotti, whose mother was a Filipponi[Bap 1787]; niece Anna Maria Elisabetta Lafranchi[Bap 1793A]; niece Maria (Maddalena) Giumini[Bap 1796C]; nephew Giovanni Giumini[Bap 1799]; niece Anna Maria Piezzi[Bap 1803A]; nephew Giovanni Giacomo Francesco Marcello Lafranchi[Bap 1805A]; and niece Anna Maria Cerini[Bap 1807].

Giovanni Giacomo Filipponi died between 1805 and 1807[Bap 1805,1807], a period in which their was a lot of turnover of priests in the parish.

Anna Maria (Giumini) Filipponi died on January 2, 1813, in Someo. She was buried the following day in the parish cemetery. She was recorded to be "about 54 years" old but was 52.[Dth 1813]

What became of Anna Maria afterward is not known. She was in her mid-40s when Giacomo passed.

Sons Giacomo Pietro, Giovanni Antonio, Giovanni Giacomo, and Giovanni, were enumerated during the civil census of 1808, which only recorded males.[Cen 1808]

Maria Caterina GIUMINIΔ (1762-1827)

134C1C. Maria Caterina GiuminiΔ was born and baptized on November 10, 1762, in Giumaglio, Ticino, Switzerland. Her godparents were Giacomo Piezzi, a cousin, and Mrs. Giovanna Maria (Pozzi) Piezzi, the widow of her late cousin Giovanni Battista Piezzi.[Bap 1762] Catterina married Carlo Francesco Maria GiuminiΔ, reportedly her second cousin, January 24, 1781, at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Giumaglio.[Mar 1781] They had as many as 10 children:

Prior to the marriage of Caterina and Francesco, the customary three announcements were made on Sunday, November 26, 1780; the Feast of St. Andrew on November 30; and Sunday, December 3. Dispensation for their third degree of consangunity (second cousins) was obtained in early January from the Nuncio Apostolic to Switzerland in Lucerne, and they were wed by Father Giacomo Filipponi, the vicar and rector of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Witnesses to their union were Giacomo Piezzi and Giuseppe Pozzi.[Mar 1781]

Caterina and Carlo chose the following godparents for their children:

Two Anna Marias
The two Anna Marias are a bit of a curiosity. The "first," by age noted on her death record, would appear to have been born before her parents' wedding. The "second," was born and died as noted, however, her birth year is calculated from her reported age at death, 57. She may have been born during a period of incomplete back-entered baptism records, which could suggest she was born about 1785.
  1. Anna Maria (elder): Giacomo Piezzi, a cousin to both parents through their Sartori lines, and Anna Maria Giumini[Bap 1781], Caterina's elder sister;
  2. Anna Maria (younger): no baptism record found in Giumaglio;
  3. Giacomina: Giacomo Pietro Giumini, Caterina's younger brother, and Mrs. Maria Domenica (Pozzi) Pedrotti[Bap 1783B];
  4. Pietro: no baptism record found among incomplete back entries between 1785 and 1806 in Giumaglio;
  5. Francesco: no baptism record found among incomplete back entries between 1785 and 1806 in Giumaglio;
  6. Giuseppe: Giovanni Lorenzo Pozzi and Anna Maria Piezzi[Bap 1791];
  7. Carlo Antonio: no baptism record found among incomplete back entries between 1785 and 1806 in Giumaglio;
  8. Michele: Giovanni Felice Pedrotti and Maria Caterina Sartori[Bap 1795];
  9. Angiola: Giovanni Domenico Piezzi, Caterina's brother-in-law, and Mrs. Maria Angiola (Maranta) Giumini[Bap 1797], Caterina's sister-in-law;
  10. Maddalena: Giovanni Pietro Pozzi and Mrs. Lucia Gaspari.[Bap 1799]
Giumini-Lesina
Granddaughter Anna Maria Domenica Giumini married Giuliano Lesina, the great-grandfather of sixth cousin and Giumaglio research colleague, Mark Lesina.

Caterina was in turn named as godmother to Giuseppe Maria Gaspari[Bap 1783A] and Maria Caterina Pedrotti.[Bap 1790]

In 1817, the Giuminis were in their mid-50s and all of their surviving children, except Anna Maria, were still living with them, including eldest son Giovanni Pietro's wife and 3-year-old daughter.[Cen 1817]

Carlo Francesco Maria Giumini likely died sometime between 1817 and 1826, during a period of missing parish records. He were likely in his late 50s or early 60s.

Maria Caterina Giumini likely died on August 21, 1827, at her home in Giumaglio. She was recorded as "Maria, widow of the late Francesco Giumini, and of the late Pietro Giumini, called Rizzoni." She was said to be "about 60 years" old but was more likely 64. She was buried the following day in the cemetery at Giumaglio.

Giacomo Pietro GIUMINI (1765-<1831)

134C1D. Giacomo Pietro Giumini was born and baptized on May 2, 1765, in Giumaglio, Ticino, Switzerland. He was likely named for both his late paternal grandfather and his godfather Giacomo Pietro Pozzi, who was married to Giacomo's cousin Maria Giacomina Cerini. His godmother was Mrs. Maria Catterina (Marchese) Pozzi, a Piezzi cousin.[Bap 1765] Giacomo Pietro married Maria Angiola Maranta, daughter of the late Giovanni Domenico of the village of Villa, Valtellina, Lombardy, Italy, about 170 kilometers east-southeast of Giumaglio and about 10 kilometers southwest of Como. They had at least eight children:

Name Variations
Records vary on Pietro's name. While his baptism record and the majority of others hold him as Giacomo Pietro, in the parish censuses of 1769 and 1776, he is named as Giovanni Giacomo[Cen 1769,1776] and in the 1817 census as Pietro Giacomo.[Cen 1817] Later, in the baptism records of the children of daughter (Giovanna) Maria Torneri, between 1827 and 1841, he is named seven times as Giovanni Pietro.

Pietro and Angiola chose the following godparents for their children:

  1. Innocenza: no baptism record found among incomplete back entries between 1785 and 1806 in Giumaglio;
  2. Angiola: Giovanni Domenico Piezzi, Pietro's brother-in-law, and Mrs. Maria Anna (Giumini Lafranchi), Pietro's younger sister[Bap 1794];
  3. Giacomo: Pietro Antonio Pozzi, Pietro's cousin, and Maria Caterina Sartori[Bap 1796], Pietro's second cousin;
  4. Giovanni: Giovanni Antonio Lanotti of Someo and Anna Maria Giumini[Bap 1799], Pietro's eldest sister;
  5. Maria Anna: Giovanni Giacomo Gaspari and Mrs. Maria Anna (De Bernardi) Pozzi[Bap 1801], the wife of Pietro's second cousin;
  6. Rosa: no baptism record found among incomplete back entries between 1785 and 1806 in Giumaglio;
  7. Apollonia: Giacomo Filippo Pozzi and Mrs. Apollonia (Caneverini) Piezzi[Bap 1806];
  8. Maddalena: no baptism record found in Giumaglio.

Pietro was in turn named as godfather to niece Maria Giacomina Giumini[Bap 1783]; niece Maria Margherita Filipponi[Bap 1788]; second cousin Giuseppe Giumini[Bap 1789]; and niece Anna Lucia Lafranchi.[Bap 1795] Angiola was named as godmother and apparent namesake to Pietro's niece Maria Angiola Giumini.[Bap 1797]

In October 1799, "Gio. Pietro Giumino" was recorded to be the highest bidder at a public auction of sheep grazing rights in the Alpe di Spluga, an alpine valley 1,440 meters above Giumaglio. His bid was 55 Milanese lire and one penny (soldo). This price was likely per year over a period of perhaps six years, as noted in another similar transaction[Medici 44-45]

Eldest son Giacomo died at the age of 11 on December 11, 1807.[Dth 1807]

Giacomo Pietro Giumini died sometime before the birth of granddaughter Maria Anna (Giumini) Torneri in 1831[Bap 1831], perhaps even before 1826 when the was a 17-year gap in parish vital records. He was probably in his late 50s or early 60s.

Maria Angiola (Maranta) Giumini died on September 3, 1846, in her home in Giumaglio. She was buried the following day in the cemetery of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.[Dth 1846] She was 74 years old.

Maria Maddalena (GIUMINI) PIEZZIΔ (1767-1803)

134C1E. Maria Maddalena Giumini was born on the night of September 17, 1767, in Giumaglio, Ticino, Switzerland, and baptized that night. She may have been named for her paternal grandmother. Her godfather was Giovanni Cerini, who had been married to Giacomo's late aunt Giovanna Maria Giumini. Her godmother was Anna Maria Pozzi, daughter of Don Rodolfo Pozzi.[Bap 1767]

Maddalena married Giovanni Domenico Piezzi (Sr.)Δ, son of Giacomo Pietro Piezzi, on September 30, 1792, in Giumaglio. She and Domenico were second cousins, once removed, though their Piezzi lines. They had four children. Maddalena died 12 days after their youngest was born. Afterward Domenico remarried to Maria Angiola Piezzi, his first cousin, once removed, through their Piezzi lines and a cousin to Maddalena as well. They had nine children together:

Maddalena and Domenico married on September 30, 1792, at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Before their marriage they obtained dispensation for three impediments: to forgo the traditional three marriage declarations; the third and fourth degrees of consanguinity from one stock (i.e., second cousins, once removed, along their Piezzi lines); and the fourth degree of consanguinity in another stock (i.e., third cousins, but the exact connection of this relationship is not apparent). Dispensation was coordinated with the Nuncio Apostolic to Switzerland in Lucerne and approved on September 27. Recorded witnesses were Giovanni Cerini (Jr.) and Giovanni Giacomo Pedrotti.[Mar 1792]

Maddalena and Domenico chose the following godparents for their children:

  1. Marianna: Giovanni Pietro Pezzoni of Someo, who was likely Domenico's brother-in-law, and the widow Mrs. Marianna Tomasini of Lodano[Bap 1794B], a likely relative on Domenico's mother's side;
  2. Giovanna: Martino Galeazzi of Lodano, possibly a cousin on Maddalena's mother's side in Lodano, and Mrs. Giovanna Maria (Gasparini) Piezzi[Bap 1797A], the wife of Domenico's uncle and Maddalena's cousin;
  3. Giacomo Pietro: Giovanni Pietro Sartori, Maddalena's cousin, and Maria Angiola Piezzi[Bap 1801], Domenico's cousin and future second wife; and
  4. Anna Maria: Giacomo Piezzi, Domenico's cousin and the son of Mrs. Giovanna Maria (Gasparini) Piezzi, above, and Mrs. Anna Maria (Giumini) Filipponi of Someo[Bap 1803A], Maddalena's eldest sister.

Maddalena was likely named as godmother to nephew Giovanni Antonio Filipponi[Bap 1791]; Domenico's nephew Raffaele Giuseppe Pezzoni[Bap 1799]; and Carlo Giumini[Bap 1800], her second cousin.

Domenico in kind was named as godfather to Maria Angiola Bonetti[Bap 1792], a Piezzi cousin; his nephew Giovanni Angelo Gaspare Baldassarre Pezzoni[Bap 1794A]; Maddalena's niece Maria Angiola Giumini[Bap 1794C]; Maddalena's nephew Giovanni Domenico Lafranchi[Bap 1796A]; Giovanni Domenico Gasparini[Bap 1796B], a Piezzi cousin; Maria Angiola Giumini[Bap 1797B], Maddalena's niece; Giovanni Domenico Piezzi[Bap 1797C]; Maddalena's niece Margherita Cerini[Bap 1798]; and Giovanna Maria Lafranchi[Bap 1803B], the cousin of Domenico's future second wife, Maria Angiola Piezzi.

Maria Maddalena (Giumini) Piezzi died on 23 Mar 1803 in her home, not long after giving birth to daughter Anna Maria. She was buried in the church cemetery in Giumaglio the following day. Maddalena was only 35 years old[Dth 1803] and had been married 10 years. She left behind four children between the ages of 12 days and 7 years.

After Maddalena

Domenico remarried a year later to Maria Angiola Piezzi in June of 1804 or 1805 at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Giumaglio. Dispensation was obtained to forego the usual three marriage proclamations and because they were related by second and third unequal degress of consanguinity (i.e., first cousins, once removed, along their Piezzi lines) and third and fourth degrees of affinity (i.e., related by marriage rather than by blood, referring to Angiola's relationship to Maddalena).[Mar 1804/5]

Domenico and Angiola chose the following godparents for their children. Curiously, only baptism records for the first two children were found in Giumaglio:

Domenico was in turn named as godfather, along with his sister, the widow Anna (Piezzi) Pezzoni, as godmother, to Giovanni Domenico Pozzi[Bap 1804], a Piezzi cousin; Maria Rosa Gasparini[Bap 1805], a Piezzi cousin; and Giuseppe Maria Sartori[Bap 1807], Angiola's second cousin through their Sartori lines.

Angiola likewise was named as godmother to Giovanni Giacomo Pozzi[Bap 1806A], a Piezzi cousin; Giacomo Gasparini[Bap 1807], a Piezzi cousin; Giovanni Domenico Adami[Bap 1826], Domenico's grandson from his eldest daughter Marianna; Giovanna Maria (Marianna) Sartori[Bap 1835A], a Piezzi and Sartori cousin; and Maria Angiola Cerini[Bap 1835B], a Piezzi cousin.

In 1843, the Piezzi household comprised Domenico and Angiola; their four younger sons; and son Giovanni Antonio's wife, Caterina (Lafranchi), and their newborn son Giovanni Domenico.[Cen 1843]

Maria Angiola Piezzi died on March 11, 1851, at their home in Giumaglio. She was interred two days later at the cemetery of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.[Dth 1851] She was 68 years old and they had been married 46 years.

Giovanni Domenico Piezzi (Sr.) died on January 17, 1856, his 87th birthday, at his home in Giumaglio. He was buried two days later at the cemetery of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.[Dth 1856]

Maria Teresa (GIUMINI) CERINI6 (1770-1831)

134C1H. Maria Teresa Giumini6 was born on the morning of April 22, 1770, in Giumaglio, Ticino, Switzerland, the third named of triplet girls and the only one to survive beyond infancy. Her godmother and apparent namesake was Maria Teresia Gasparini, her second cousin and likewise a twin; and her godfather was Giuseppe (Antonio) Giovanotti, who married cousin Maria Domenica Piezzi two weeks later.[Bap 1770] Teresa married Giovanni Antonio Cerini6 between 1793 and 1795 and had at least six children:

134C1H1. Maria Maddalena Cerini 28 May 1796 (> 1817) (> 20)
134C1H2. Maria Margherita Cerini 15 Apr 1798 1 Mar 1837 (38)
134C1H3. Giacomo Pietro Cerini5 8 May 1800 25 Sep 1860 (60)
134C1H4. Antonio Maria Marcello Cerini 9 Oct 1802 19 Dec 1866 (64)
134C1H5. Anna Maria Cerini 3 Nov 1807 (> 1729) (> 21)
134C1H6. Maria Angiola Cerini 15 Sep 1809 6 May 1849 (39)

Oddly, Teresa was not named in the parish census of 1776[Cen 1776]; however, Teresa and sister Maria Anna were confirmed on July 30, 1776, when Giambattista Muggiasca, Bishop of Como (1765-1789), held confirmation ceremonies for parishes in the valley at the Church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo in Gordevio, about 8 kilometers downriver. Their sponsoring godmothers were named as Maria G. Toschona (Toscona?) of Broglio, Val Lavizarra, and Maria Catterina Muscio of Someo.[Con 1776]

Antonio and Teresa chose the following as godparents for their children:

  1. Maddalena: Giovanni Maria Guglielmetti of Coglio and Maria Giumini, Teresa's elder sister[Bap 1796];
  2. Margherita: Giovanni Domenico Piezzi, Teresa's brother-in-law, and Mrs. Margherita Guglielmetti, wife of Giovanni Guglielmetti, above[Bap 1798];
  3. Giacomo Pietro7: Giacomo Pietro Adami and Catterina Sartori, Teresa's cousin[Bap 1800];
  4. Antonio Marcello: Antonio Maria Lafranchi of Coglio, husband of Teresa's younger sister, and Mrs. Marianna (Bonetti) Cerini, wife of Giacomo Pietro Cerini, Antonio's second cousin[Bap 1802];
  5. Anna Maria: Giovanni Pietro Pozzi and the widow Mrs. Anna Maria (Giumini) Filipponi of Someo, Teresa's eldest sister[Bap 1807]; and
  6. Maria Angiola: no baptism record available.

Teresa in turn was named as godmother to nephew Giacomo Pietro Maria Filipponi[Bap 1789] and nephew Giuseppe Antonio Lafranchi.[Bap 1807]

Baptism and Census Records
The church census records the eldest two daughters, Maddalena and Margherita, as being of the ages of 2 years and 4 days, respectively, in 1795, but baptism records are dated May 28, 1796, and April 15, 1798. Normally we would expect the baptism record to be the most reliable except that the available records from 1785 to 1807 are retranscriptions completed in 1808. The census records also frequently show additions made years afterward, so their appearance in 1795 cannot be relied upon. Lastly, the 1817 census shows the earlier dates.

Giovanni Antonio Cerini died before the 1817 parish census, probably after his last known child was born in 1807 or 1809. He was therefore probably in his forties.[Cen 1817]

In 1817 Maria Teresa, age 47, lived with five children between the ages of about 8 to 24, the youngest of whom, Maria Angiola, was curiously not recorded in the parish census of 1817 but later was in the civil registry.[Cen 1817, Reg ~1851 ] Furthermore, no baptism record for Angiola has been found to confirm that she was in fact Antonio and Teresa's daughter because parish baptism records from 1809 until 1826 are lost to history.

Maria Teresia (Giumini) Cerini died on December 6, 1831, at her home in Giumaglio. She was 61 years old. She was buried the following day in the cemetery of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta.[Dth 1831]

Maria Anna (GIUMINI) LAFRANCHI (1772-<1850)

134C1I. Maria Anna (Marianna) Giumini was born on the night of November 27, 1772, in Giumaglio, Ticino, Switzerland. She was baptized that night and assigned godparents Pietro Antonio Pozzi, husband of cousin Maria Catterina Marchese who was godmother to elder brother Giacomo Pietro; and Mrs. Maria Catterina Pozzi, a Piezzi and Marchese cousin who five months earlier married Giacomo Pietro Pozzi, who was also godfather to elder brother Giacomo Pietro.[Bap 1772] Maria Anna married Antonio Maria Marcello Lafranchi of the neighboring village of Coglio by 1793[Bap 1793] and had as many as 11 children, including two sets of fraternal twins.

Maria Anna and elder sister Teresa5 were confirmed on July 30, 1776, when Giambattista Muggiasca, Bishop of Como (1765-1789), held confirmation ceremonies for parishes in the valley at the Church of Santi Giacomo e Filippo in Gordevio, about 8 kilometers downriver. Their sponsoring godmothers were named as Maria Catterina Muscio of Someo and Maria G. Toschona (Toscona?) of Broglio, Val Lavizarra.[Con 1776]

Children's Parents

Records for Antonio Maria Marcello's children curiously suggest three marriages: Maria Anna Giumini (1793-1795), Anna Maria Piezzi (1796-1799), and Maria Anna Giumini again (1803-1811). Marriage records were not found in Giumaglio or Coglio, perhaps suggesting something "non-traditional." Details are:

Anna Maria Elisabetta's parents were recorded as "Antonio Lafranchi, son of Giuseppe, and Marianna, daughter of Giovanni Giacomo" (family name omitted)[Bap 1793]; "Marianna, wife of Marcello" was named as a godmother in 1794[Bap 1794]; and Anna Lucia's as "Antonio Maria Lafranchi and Maria Anna Giumini."[Bap 1799]

Domenico's parents were recorded as "Marcello Antonio Lafranchi and Anna Maria Piezzi"[Bap 1796] and Margherita Vittoria's as "Antonio Marcello Lafranchi and Anna Maria Piezzi."[Bap 1799] September 2017However, Anna Maria Piezzi (1774-1841) married Giovanni Pietro Pezzoni in 1793 and had at least three children between then and 1798. One possible explanation for a mix-up is that Father Giuseppe Antonio Leoni was rather new to the parish having arrived the year before Domenico was born.

Then, beginning with twins Cattarina and Giuseppe Antonio, the children's parents are identified as "Antonio Maria Marcello, son of the late Giuseppe, and Mari' Anna, daughter of the late Giovanni Giacomo Giumini."

August 2016Maria Anna and Antonio chose the following godparents for their children:

  1. Elisabetta: Giacomo Filippo lafranchi, likely Antonio's younger brother, and Anna Maria Giumini[Bap 1793A], Maria Anna's eldest sister;
  2. Anna Lucia: Giacomo Pietro Giumini, Maria Anna's elder brother, and Mrs. Maria Lucia Bertola Orinda Gaspari[Bap 1795], Antonio's step-grandmother;
  3. Domenico: Giovanni Domenico Piezzi, Maria Anna's brother-in-law, and Mrs. Anna Maria Lafranchi, the wife of Antonio's younger brother Giacomo Filippo Lafranchi (as above)[Bap 1796];
  4. Margherita Vittoria: Giuseppe Lafranchi (Jr.), Antonio's younger brother, and Mrs. Margherita Vittoria Del'Avo of Campo[Bap 1799];
  5. Cattarina: Giovanni Antonio Guglielmetti and the widow Mrs. Maria (Margherita) Guglielmetti[Bap 1803A], wife of Antonio's late cousin;
  6. Giuseppe Antonio (elder): Giovanni Antonio Lafranchi and Mrs. Maria Giovanna (Lafranchi) Delnotaro[Bap 1803B], Antonio's elder half-sister;
  7. Giovanna: Giuseppe Antonio Lafranchi and the widow Mrs. Maria Serafina (Tonini) Francescioli-Zoppi of Broglio[Bap 1805A];
  8. Giovanni Giacomo Francesco Marcello: Giacomo Maria Gaspari, Antonio's maternal uncle, and Mrs. Anna Maria (Giumini) Filipponi[Bap 1805B], Maria Anna's eldest sister;
  9. Giuseppe Antonio (younger): Giovanni Giacomo Lafranchi of Someo and Maria Teresa (Giumini) Cerini6[Bap 1807], Marianna's elder sister;
  10. Antonio Francesco Bernardo: Giovanni Francesco Lafranchi and Maria Lafranchi[Bap 1811]; and
  11. Apollonia: no baptism record found in Coglio.

Mrs. Maria (Angiola Margherita) (Caneverini) Lafranchi attended as midwife during the birth of twins Cattarina and Giuseppe Antonio and performed an emergency baptism on them because of imminent danger of death.[Bap 1803A,B]

Marianna was named as godmother to Bernardo Lesina.[Bap 1794] Antonio Maria Marcello was named as godfather to nephew Giuseppe Francesco Maria Lafranchi[Bap 1793B]; Marianna's niece Giovanna Maria Lucia Filipponi[Bap 1793C]; Giuseppe Maria Andrea Delnotaro[Bap 1801]; Marianna's nephew Antonio Maria Marcello Cerini[Bap 1802]; and niece Maria Maddalena Angiola Lafranchi.[Bap 1808] He also served as witness to the marriages of Giuseppe Delnotaro and Anna Maria Guglielmetti[Mar 1797]; and Carlo Antonio Pezzaglia and Maria Margherita .[Mar 1809]

During the Napoleonic Era (1798-1815), Emperor Napoleon ordered a census that named every male, regardless of age, in 1808. Marcello, age 36, was enumerated with sons Giovanni Domenico, age 11; Giovanni Giacomo, age 3; and Giuseppe Antonio, age 1.[Cen 1808]

In June 1831, a baby boy was found at the family home. He was baptized on the 14th or 15th, given the name Antonio Dionigi, and assigned godparents Antonio Lafranchi and Mrs. Giovanna Maria Lafranchi, the wife of son Domenico.[Bap 1831]

Marianna (Giumini) Lafranchi died sometime before the death of daughter Apollonia in 1850.

Antonio Maria Marcello Lafranchi died on May 31, 1848, at the home of his youngest daughter Apollonia and her husband, Giovanni Battista Tacchella, in Someo. He was about 75 years old. He was buried at the cemetery of the Church of Sancti Placido ed Eustachio in Someo.[Dth 1848]
