Peleg PRITCHARD1 (1772-1847)
1.Peleg Pritchard1 was born on April 5, 1772. He was married three times: first to Elizabeth White1, who died around 1813 after bearing five children; Mabel, who bore one son in 1816; and Margaret Jones, who bore four more children. All together, Peleg had ten children, all presumed to have been born in Pasquotank County, North Carolina.[Bible]

In 1810 there were ten Pritchard households enumerated in Pasquotank County: Hugh, Samuel, Lemuel, Ruth, Richard, Joseph, David, Enoch, Elisha, and Peleg. The others still require further analysis, but Peleg's was headed by a man aged between 26 and 45 (Peleg), and included: a woman aged 16 to 25 (Elizabeth); a teenaged boy (Wiley) and a girl (?) between the age of 10 and 16; and a girl (Sally) and boy (John) under the age of 10.[Cen 1810]
Elizabeth (White) Pritchard1 died between 1813 and 1815. Peleg remarried to Mabel, who give him one son in 1816, before she died. Peleg then remarried to Margaret Jones, perhaps between 1817 and 1820, and born four more children.
In 1820, there were two Pritchard households, Peleg's and Benjamin's, each enumerated twice, on pages 253 and 283.[Cen 1820] There are a couple discrepancies between the two.
Peleg's household comprised a man over the age of 45 (Peleg); either one female aged 26 to 45 (Margaret?) and one aged 16 to 26 (Sally), or two aged 16 to 26; one young man aged 16 to 26 (Wiley); two teenaged girls, aged 10 to 16 (Sally and Mary?); three boys under the age of 16 (John, Miles, and Peleg, Jr.?); and one girl under the age of 10 (Elizabeth).[Cen 1820]
Peleg Pritchard died on April 24, 1847. He was 75 years old.[Bible]

Wiley PRITCHARD2 (1799-1837)
1A.Wiley Pritchard2 was born on July 27, 1799, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. He married Permilla "Milla" Davis2 and settled in New Garden Township, Wayne County, Indiana, reportedly around 1828. They had as many as seven children, including a pair of twin girls:

The Pritchard family settled in New Garden Township, Wayne County, Indiana, not far from the Ohio state line, reportedly around 1828. There "Wiley Prichard" (sic) and his wife were both recorded as between the ages of 30 and 40. They had one son between the age of 5 and 10 (Peleg), and four daughters under the age of 5.[Cen 1830]
Wiley Pritchard reportedly died in 1837, at the age of 37 or 38.
After Wiley's death, Permilla remarred to George Hunter around 1840. George's farm adjoined the farm of Samuel Martin Fisher in Madison County, Indiana.[Cen 1840] About a year later, Permilla's daughter Sophia2 married Samuel Martin Fisher's brother King David Fisher2. After King David2 died in 1871 and Samuel's wife died in 1885, Sophia2 and Samuel wed at the end of 1885.
George Hunter died before 1850, at which time Permilla and daughters Elizabeth and Martha were living in Fall Creek Township, Madison County, Indiana. Permilla owned land there valued at $400. Daughter Sarah and son John lived with the John & Phebe Busby family and were enumerated 18 households later.[Cen 1850] Permilla continued to live with daughter Martha and her family in 1870.[Cen 1870]
Permilla (Davis Pritchard) Hunter2 died on February 21, 1872, at the age of 73 years. She was buried at Pee Wee Cemetery in Adams Township, just east of Fall Creek Township, Madison County.[Grave]

John Criste PRITCHARD (1807-1881)
1C.John Criste Pritchard was born on February 15, 1807, in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. He married Ellen Jennings on December 11, 1829. They had ten children:[Bible]
The Pritchard family moved perhaps 30 miles north to St. Brides Parish, Norfolk County, Virginia, around 1849 or 1850. (Norfolk County was later consolidated into the independent city of Chesapeake in 1963.) Sarah Jennings, age 25, likely Elenor's relative, and William P. Bray, age 14, lived with the family.[Cen 1850] By 1860, son Wiley started his own family nearby in the parish.[Cen 1860]
During the Civil War, son Wiley enlisted with the 61st Virginia Volunteer Infantry Regiment. (Coincidentally, his namesake and paternal uncle Wiley Pritchard's son John fought with the Union Army and died during the Atlanta Campaign.) The 61st Regiment served with the Army of Northern Virginia, which defended the Confederate capital at Richmond and successfully repelled the Union Army of the Potomac in the Battle of Fredericksburg, December 1862. Private Pritchard died the following month on January 29, 1863. Only one soldier of the 61st Regiment was recorded as wounded in the Battle of Fredericksburg, so the cause of Private Pritchard's death is not yet known.
Come 1870, the family was identified with Lake Drummond Post Office in Pleasant Township, Norfolk County. Their youngest two sons, John and James, lived with them, as did 9-year-old Nancy Wright.[Cen 1870]
John C. Pritchard died in Perquimans County, adjacent to Pasquotank County, about 1881. He was about the age of 74. John died intestate and the probate court recognized son William Pritchard and Maggie Sawyer as his heirs.[Prob 1881]
