BALZARI Family History

May 2017
Contents

We descend from at least two of the three branches of the sizeable Lafranchi family of Coglio so these pages are divided into those three branches (Parts A, B, and C):

Italian and Latin Names
Parish records, from which most of this information comes, is primarily written in Latin, while civil records are primarily written in Italian. Names that have only been observed in Latin but have either been converted to Italian or left in Latin are rendered in italics.

What little is known of the Balzari family of Cevio is derived from parish records in Someo, where Anna Maria (Balzari) Tognazzini2 married in 1824 and lived. The Balzaris are also native to Bignasco, 2.5 kilometers upriver from Cevio.
